About Oak Cottage

Oak Cottage is a five-bedroom luxury lodge in the Lake District countryside just outside Ulverston. This spacious three-floor property sleeps 10 guests with five en-suite bathrooms - perfect for large groups who don't want to queue for the shower after a day of hiking. The photos don't do justice to how bloody massive this place actually is.

Set in peaceful surroundings with stunning views, this property offers the perfect base for exploring the Lakes. You're just a 5-minute drive from Haverthwaite Rail Station and 30 minutes from Bowness-on-Windermere. The private enclosed patio with hot tub is ideal for evening drinks - nothing says "I'm on holiday" like getting tipsy in bubbling water while staring at the countryside.

The accommodation features two ground-floor super king-size bedrooms (convertible to twins), a ground-floor king-size and two second-floor bedrooms - all with their own en-suites. The kitchen comes fully equipped with everything from an induction hob to a dishwasher. There are five Smart TVs throughout, plus WiFi for posting hot tub selfies.

Nearby attractions include Bowness-on-Windermere (30-minute drive) with its boat trips and shops, Ambleside (40 minutes) with excellent restaurants and Grasmere - famous for its gingerbread. Ulverston town is just 20 minutes away with its quirky shops and festivals.

Oak cottage was a fantastic base for a very beautiful part of the world. The photos dont do the size of the property justice it really is beautiful and the space means that even large families always feel like they have their own space. In summer, the outdoor space will just provide so much more. Lynsey is such a good host and took questions before and during our stay. We couldnt recommend the cottage highly enough and will definitely look to return in future.

We had the most wonderful stay, the property exceeded our expectations, it felt very luxurious and the hot tab was amazing with the most beautiful views. The property was very very warm we were advised the underfloor heating could be turned off We were grateful to be have been given a later check out as 9.30am is quite the push to have the property as requested by that time for such a large party. Would highly recommend and also look forward to retuning
This was a family holiday and we all enjoyed it very much. The small complimentary bath,shampoo,soap and welcome basket was a nice thought though there wasn't enough for 9 adults. The only thing that I didn't like was the very long drive up the country lane path in first gear.

We had a wonderful stay at Oak cottage. The location was perfect for us. The cottage was a bit warm for us during the hot weather we had we would have liked more fans due to the limited amount of windows to open safely in the property but once the weather cooled a little we managed ok. The rest of the facilities were excellent and we had everything we needed. The washing machine and tumble drier were especially useful with children. Altogether we had a great time thank you.

Oak Cottage is situated in the countryside just outside Ulverston and is a good base for people looking to explore the South lakes. The cottage itself is beautiful and has everything you could possibly need to make for a perfect stay, they have literally thought of everything, and there is lots space, indoors and out, to relax. Due to it's beautiful countryside location there are no close by facilities, however, the Anglers Arms is about a 30 minute walk away and it's a decent place to stop off for a drink or a sandwich whilst exploring the local area. That said Ulverston is a 20 minute drive away and there are plenty of shops, restaurants, pubs etc and taxis are available locally. Haverthwaite railway is close by, 5 minutes drive, and gives you access to Lakeside aquarium or an onward boat trip to Bowness or Ambleside. Bowness, 30 minute drive, and Ambleside, 40 minute drive, are a must visit and there are plenty places to explore and eat and drink in both. A little further north is Grasmere and Rydal which offers some stunning walks for all abilities. Anyway enough of my ramblings. Oak Cottage is a stunning place to stay in beautiful surroundings and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing stay and to explore the South lakes. Enjoy.

The accommodation is stunning both in its location and comfort. Beautifully furnished and excellently equipped, we wanted for nothing during our stay. Lovely rooms, clean and spacious, a generous patio with comfortable outside furniture, and hot tub that was very popular with our grandchildren in particular. We had six in our party and did not feel constrained in any way as the configuration of rooms is effective and allows for both congregation and privacy. As custodians, Lynsey and Andrew were welcoming and responsive, although we had no need to call upon their services. Oak Cottage was worth every penny of our investment and we would return there without hesitation. Thank you.

Absolutely amazing location, the cottage was out of this world , so clean and we had everything we needed and so much more. The staff were so friendly and efficient especially with the time we are living in at the moment. Hot tub was amazing for me and my family to chill in and look at the stars. We usually have a villa holiday abroad with all the family but decided before lockdown to stay in this country. The lakes were amazing and as we are National trust card holders, we were able to book a number of outdoor activities. The weather was brilliant and everyone enjoyed our stay at Oak cottage.

We went as a party of ten & everyone of us loved the cottage & its location. The facilities where really good especially with each bedroom having its own ensuite,the only negative was the kitchen.the cottage caters for ten people so we found the kitchen to be on the small side, but that saying it had all the appliances required & we would gladly return

Oak Cottage is up there with the best and a great location for access to South and West Lakes, easy access from the M6 too. With great weather we just enjoyed this excellent property and the hot tub for four days.

We all had a fantastic holiday at Oak Cottage. The house was incredible, the welcome hamper was very much appreciated and the whole experience made the all round 13 hour drive worthwhile. Oak Cottage is in a great location, the rooms are fantastic and the on site staff are really helpful. We would go back there in a heartbeat the window seat and it's incredible view were particularly popular.
