Ullswater 29, Penrith

Excellent accommodation, clean,comfortable and very warm. In a superb location with an incredible outlook, bet it looks amazing in summer. Really central for all the major town centres and walking trails although we are not much of a walking couple. Fully recommend this accommodation, lm sure we will be back. Just a heads up to the owner, we were there when storm ? Was blowing a gale, outside your door is a faulty Velux window which kept blowing open and causing a cold Draught to blow through the flat. I did report it to reception on Tuesday but when we left Saturday nothing had been done about it. Looks like it could be an issue that has been going on for some time as when I looked at the window the closing mechanism attached to the frame is missing. This is in NO way a complaint, just think the owner should be made aware of the situation.

We loved every minute. All of the staff were fabulous especially the lovely bar staff. The views were breathtaking and there was something for everyone to do. The pool area was the best we've been to and have been to some posh hotels. The food was lovely and the New Years Eve party was great. The only negative for us nothing to do with the complex was the lack of buses and taxis extortionate prices to take you into Penrith for drinks. Short distance away as well from Keswick and Ullswater which we visited whilst on holiday and well worth seeing. The apartment was fab and had everything we needed. Thank you. Would highly recommend

Comfortable and nicely appointed split level apartment in peaceful surroundings. The holiday village is lovely and well maintained, and members of staff friendly and helpful. The swimming pool was a lovely added bonus, it was great to start the day with a swim. The pillows need replacing, those provided are really not fit for purpose and hinder a good nights sleep.

So exceeded our expectations we had a wonderful holiday Staff on reception very helpful Accommodation excellent very clean and cozy with a spa within the building to access very easily very welcome after a days walking so much to see and enjoy We didnt realise there was no oven but that was fine and we managed. Their was a bit of confusion over the sending of txt messages by the bookings used through another holiday company asking for our bank details to hold 100 pounds in case of damage to property which was a little off putting before we got there. But we cleared it up with the staff who were helpful and could see that the property is privately owned. We assured them that we would always show respect where we stay and leave as we would like others to treat our home. We would consider booking again next year

This was by far one of the best places we have stayed. You could tell the owner had thought of all the little touches to make your holiday as comfy as possible. The apartment was lovely especially the bathroom! and the complex itself was very serene and peaceful. Thank you for a lovely stay a lot of the time places dont really live up to expectations but this exceeded ours and we knew as soon as we walked through the door we were going to have a great holiday

Dissapointing maintenance as both windows in the bedroom did not open which is totally unacceptable in warm weather. The microwave is broken and has been replaced by a small stand alone machine which is on a side table in the sitting area which is dangerous. The apartment is poorly maintained and dated. Not what we expect from your company.

We really enjoyed joyed our stay at Ullswater 29. The accommodation was as described in the brochure and was clean and comfortable. As a previous occupant commented there were no cleaning tools in the flat, which we think is an ommission . We thought the whole Whitbarrow complex very welcoming. Our only minor complaint was that the Restaurant menu was very small. The food however was delicious

Property was very comfortable and had all that was required. The resort was also well equipped with plenty to entertain on sight. Locality was so close to the awesome sites and experiences of the Lakes.

Nice place and facilities

Really lovely apartment that was warm and cosy throughout. Perfect as a base for walking and exploring the lakes with all the onsite facilities to support relaxation at the end of the day.

Shower onoff is missing the pin for turning, freezer compartment door in fridge is broken, only 5 dishwasher tablets for 7 nights. Lights are dim great for romantic snuggle but not for reading, knitting or doing a jigsaw! One bulb in cooker hood is dead and one over bathroom sink is dying.

All staff excellent restaurant above expectations in all a pleasant break for my 80th birthday break. Reason for 3 for facilities no breakfast advertised on brochure no gym and sauna and steam room out of order

We had a great weeks stay in this clean warm comfortable apartment. All staff are very friendly and professional. As the pool and gym are downstairs we used them daily. We booked the adult swim and this is easy to do online. This apartment is in a great location and we intend to return.

Absolutely lovely apartment. Comfy furniture, bed and hot shower. Everything to make a real home from home,with the added bonus of a heated swimming pool. Beautiful location, an ideal base for touring the stunning area. The whole complex is well organised and managed. Everywhere was clean and the staff were so friendly. Highly recommend a relaxing stay at this better than expected apartment.

Great apartment within lovely grounds very peaceful & amazing views. We have been before & always have a good time. Welcome pack was a little disappointing with only 1 tea bag ? We always bring our own luckily l & no biscuits but on the plus side toilet rolls & washing up pods & liquid available. Swim sauna & jacuzzi great facility & included in the price.

Apartment was clean and well equipped. Complimentary items, such as tea, coffee, milk, dishwasher tabs, loo roll, soap, washing up liquid were useful initially as the supermarkets were located a distance away in Penrith or Keswick. There is a fantastic farm shopcafe 1 mile away on the A66 which sells quality essentials and very impressive breakfasts. The holiday village is situated in a beautiful location, with fabulous vews from the balcony. We used the resorts pool and spa facilities every day, booking sessions in advance. Having a restaurant and bar on site was handy, although we travelled to local pubs for our evening meals.

Tranquil with lovely views. Having read previous reviews realised there was no oven so adapted meals to microwavehobonly. Very adequate as a base for Lakeland exploring. Velux window in bedroom means room is light when sun rises in case youre a person who needs dark to sleep! E very thing working and all that we needed fir two for a week. Washing up consumables also supplies isnt always the case. Shower consistently hot. Nice to have the bonus access to pool complex but needs booking in advance. Would come again.

We stayed at Ullswater 29 for a week and really enjoyed it. It is on the 2nd floor but you have access to a lift. The property is well presented and clean with everything you need personally I would introduce a broom or a hoover so you can keep the property clean during your stay and we liked the fact that the bedroom is separate. The balcony is roomy and has beautiful views. It was very quiet, I suppose it would be a lot busier when the schools are off in England. We had a fly problem but this was not isolated to the property, I think the closeness to farms might have something to do with it. The complex has a pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room. 1 hour slots need to be booked and you have the option of adult only access twice per day. The restaurant has a nice selection of food but tables need to be booked in advance for dinner. All in we had a very pleasant stay and would definitely return.

We were very pleased with the accommodation. It was clean,spacious and comfortable and we liked having the two levels.Lovely to have the balcony overlooking the fields and hills in the distance.We would be happy to use again if we were staying in the area.Only small negative was no ovenwould rather have oven than dishwasher and the pillows could do with replacing and pillow protectors used.Apart from those very small niggles we couldnt fault it and had a lovely holiday.

Excellent stay in Ullswater 29, stunning views over the Cumbrian countryside. Well presented apartment with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Hotel has a pool and jacuzzi and very well kept grounds.

Lovely place and the pool was a superb bonus! Theres no hot tub as listed in description but a lovely jacuzzi by the pool. Staff friendly, all beautifully clean, bed and sofa comfortable and nice big bath towels. Our only complaint was that it was too warm, despite turning radiators off and opening windows though one was out of use and the duvet was a winter one.

We had a lovely time! Property was lovely and in an ideal location for us. The only thing that let it down slightly was that the bar was closed due to staff shortages. It did not ruin our holiday by any means but would have been nice if it was open. Property was very clean and comfortable We have just booked again for next year!

The duplex apartment was fabulous, very comfortable, spacious and much better equipped than Sykes description stated, eg oven gloves,tea towel, kitchen roll, detergent, tea, coffee, etc. With 4 of everything not really enough to be able to wait to fill dishwasher but that didnt bother us, we wash up as we go. Found the bed comfortable but small standard double. The duvet was too small for the bed, we found a larger one in the cupboard and swapped it, possible just a housekeeping error. The appartment. was very warm, clearly well insulated. We turned the rads down to 2. It was clean but there were dusty areas eg radiators and in corners. Bathroom needs a bit of maintenance but still lovely. Sykes information is out of date. Reception closed at 6pm, we almost missed it. The pool, sauna etc were shut at 6pm Tues Thurs. Sykes had said 9pm, Wed have aimed to arrive 1 hr earlier had this information been supply. There is a pay washing machine and dryer on site 2.50 for each. Whitbarrow staff and holidaymakers were all very friendly, felt like a real home from home. Other reviews complain about the parking, this is less than 5 mins walk away and Whitbarrow are happy foryou to park by reception to unloadload your car, so no problems experienced. Disabled parking is right next to reception. There are Charging Points there too. Location was great as close off to A66 and quiet!, we had good hill days out at Ullswater, Ennerdale and Honister Pass.

This place was the most amazing getaway for me and my partner! The hotel and facilities was so accessible! The restaurant was so nice and the spapool was so relaxing! I can imagine this place would be perfect in the summer as the apartment has a balcony! The hotel itself was close to cafes and activities to provide more variety with food and entertainment! We loved this place and we hope to come again in the foreseeable future! Would highly recommend

The apartment was clean and comfortable. The kitchenette was adequate for a week's stay. The views from the patio doors and terrace were beautiful and the terrace would be well used in the Summer. We looked forward to our return to the apartment after a day in The Lakes. All staff were polite and friendly. The leisure facilities were good and easily accessible as they were in the same building as the apartment. We look forward to a return visit.

The property is fantastic and the complex that its in is brilliant. The only negative that we had was the bed felt a little worn but that didn't spoil our holiday but I imagine it will for some people.

Cosy and comfortable with great facilities.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Whitbarrow Village. My apartment at Ullswater 29 was excellent. It was beautifully presented & had everything that I needed. The only problem that I personally encountered was the fact that the apartment was a duplex. I have angina & asthma plus I am in my late seventies & climbing 13 steps, a few times a day, didnt suit me. Unfortunately the lift was out of action one day during my stay & as the apartment was on the second floor I again struggled when walking up the stairs. The fire alarm went off in the very early hours of one morning during my stay plus also late one night. I was staying at Whitbarrow for a week. The alarms were false alarms. The staff were very apologetic. The staff at reception were very helpful & attended, very quickly, to any problem that I had. The pool looked very inviting & was enjoyed by fellow holidaymakers. I used the restaurant on a regular basis &, on the whole, the food was quite good & the majority of the staff were extremely helpful and kind. The grounds are very well maintained. I wouldnt hesitate to return to Whitbarrow Village again. This was my third visit. Next time I would ensure that I didnt book a duplex apartment due to my health issues

Excellent accommodation. Fantastic view setting and facilities. 2 small points clean the bedroom velux as then you can lie in bed looking at stars....and a stool for upstairs to do make up. We took a dining chair up! Apart from those minor things, it was a brilliant holiday.

2nd Time staying at this property and I doubt it will be the last. Its a lovely apartment on a nice complex. Very comfortable with amazing views

Place and staff were amazing. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Surrounding area was beautiful and interesting with something to please all. The facilities and apartment were better than we had expected and was certainly value for money for all age groups

Absolutely loved it. Comfortable and clean. Views were amazing. Apartment had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend staying here. Only one thing and nothing to do with apartment, was the lift was broke in the building the whole time we were there. Not good when you are on second floor with cases and shopping to bring up. But only mattered on check in and check out day. Rest of the time it was healthier to use the stairs

I would advise to buy all your food supplies in penrith as there are no shops in ... I would advise to buy all your food supplies in penrith as there are no shops in the village, if staying in the hotel there is no carpark which was not stated when booked you have to park in main carpark 5 10 minutes away , when we stayed there the lift was out of order the whole week had to carry luggage up 2 fights of stairs, the crazy golf was a big let down needs improvement and maintaining, the apartment was basic the kitchen as only got a 2 ring hob no oven and a microwave the restaurant was only opened 3 days ,the staff were very helpful ,

This duplex apartment enjoys lovely views and it is quite comfortable. Being on the second floor it can be a trek if the lift is out of action, which it was for the entire time I was there. There are no mobility aids in the bathroom, surely an oversight as they are so easy to install. Although you can unload your car, you have to park it in the large communal car park which is some distance if you have a disability car badge, you can be accommodated at the nearer the apartment but that is not guaranteed. I would not recommend too much cooking there is no oven in the apartment as the smell does tend to linger! Surely a washing machine would be of more value than a dish washer and the TV is from another age! I was unable to eat in the restaurant as it was closed Monday to Wednesday inclusive during my week. It looked very nice with beautiful views. The swimming pool, sauna etc. are all very nice and well maintained it's great at low season when you can have the place to yourself, but I would not want to be anywhere near it at high season! The Staff are very friendly and helpful. I would return but to an apartment on the ground floor and out of season. But Apartment 29 is fine if you are able bodied. Oh, forget streaming films from Netflix etc. as the signal is not strong enough for that.

Excellent accommodation with spectacular views from the terrace. Slightly cramped in the living area due to amount of furniture. The property sleeps 2 yet there were 4 chairs around the table. I didn't miss having an oven as much as i thought i would and i soon got used to the size of the kitchen preparation area. The bedroom was nice and big with only 1 small problem which was the radiator gurgled when on so it had to be turned off at night. This wasn't a major issue for us. The bathroom was a good size and the shower was very good. The bath was slow to fill but was large and very enjoyable after a days walking. Overall an excellent stay in a great location and a very enjoyable stay was had by us both. I would certainly use the property again.
