Oakwood Lodge, Windermere

We had a fantastic week at Oakwood Lodge and would love to return in the future. It is a lovely spacious, bright and comfortable lodge and having the hot tub was great after long walks up the fells.

Excellent lodge clean comfy spacious. Few things to loose drawers and cupboard but that didnt ruin my holiday. I have booked same lodge again for next year i enjoyed it that much.

Firstly the positives the location of this lodge is excellent. Set by lake Windermere and within walking distance of Brockhole visitor centre, it really is the ideal location. From here we could walk to the visitor centre where there is a beautiful ornamental garden, cafe and grounds to explore. There's also a Zip wire, archery and other activities. We took the Windermere cruise from there to explore other areas like Ambleside and Bowness. Within the Holiday site, our particular lodge was also nicely placed as it was less than 10 minutes to walk down to the lakeside picnic area on site too. We had full privacy in our hot tub which was lovely. The hot tub was discreetly checked each morning by staff, though there were some random plastic bits floating about in it that never seemed to be removed. The lodge itself was also well equipped all the things we needed for our stay well equipped kitchen, dishwasher tablets available for number of days there etc though an extra quilt would have been useful as we were making use of the sofa bed. There were a couple of negatives which other people have also noted in their reviews and the main issue was cleanliness. Many of the plates and glasses were dirty. There was also lots of cobwebs, clearly a build up and not just newly appeared between guests. When we first arrived it was quite cold and one of the rooms wasn't warming up. We called the out of hours but no one ever got back to us. Thankfully, these were minor issues for us, but they are also easily resolved so I hope this feedback will be taken onboard so that it can be the perfect experience it so clearly has the potential to be.

Pleasantly surprised at the size of this Accommodation. First impressions were great. Oakwood lodge was spacious, clean and very comfortable. 2 bathrooms was definitely an added bonus as we were a family of 4 adults. Only negative was there were no instructions to connect to the WIFI. We automatically connected to Park Dean customer WiFi which was not great. Finally figured out a separate WiFi was available in the lodge. Definitely needed with 2 adultteenage boys! The room with the 2 twin beds the TV signal was poor too. Apart from that, an all round lovely stay and would definitely book this lodge again.

Absolutely great lodge in a nice small park with good facilities and right on the lakeside and 10 min drive from Bowness.

The lodge it self was lovely but upon arrival we could tell the decking or any outside table and chairs had not been cleaned, I can understand leaves fall from trees etc but this had been left there a while old mucky leaves cobwebs hanging on the lights and windows and a pair of childs socks on the table outside everything else in the lodge was fine plenty of pots pans cuttlery the showers where very disapointing so thank fully there was a bath!

We found the property in an excellent location, it was spotless inside, everything we needed was provided, theres loads of space in the lodge,the decking is huge with a fence and gates which is great for dog owners, the hot tub was clean and ready to use, an excellent couple of days!

The ensuite shower completely broken and unusable Main bedroom wardrobe smashed and broken, not even any hangers to use! Hot tub had broken parts that were constantly floating in the water Decking was grotty, needed cleaning and a good sweep, outdoor furniture covered in moss just needed wiping off . Had to wait for the lodge and hot tub to be cleaned which delayed our use of both couldn't use hot tub until after 8pm, lodge itself was clean after cleaner had been but the outside veranda and walls could do with a wash down and patio door frame , moss all over the roof which when birds were on came down into decking, power shower in ensuite didn't work properly, water came out of jets and hand hose but not from above, other than this had a great few days lovely lodge in all great location and park was great.

Had an amazing 4 day break with my daughter at oakwood. No complaints at all.Just a couple ideas.Maybe upgrade the 2 showers.Get 3 more long matts for the floor as it got wet from the hot tub either going to the toilet or the fridge.would recommend this place to anyone.thanks

This was a stunning lodge I booked this and another one to go away with my family for my 60th Birthday. My daughter & family were in this one and we spent most evenings there as it was by far the better of the two. Spotlessly clean and very modern I was so envious of the main bedroom with ensuite. Would highly recommend this.

It's a lovely spacious lodge in a nice quiet cul de sac area of the park. I do believe there are a couple of niggly things that could make the lodge even better. For example maybe having some nice lighting fairy lights? around the hot tub area just to give it a bit more ambience, maybe some matching wine glasses in the the cupboard. The only real annoying thing was the complete lack of coat hangers in the any of the wardrobes, if we'd known we could have brought our own as I really don't like having my clothes folded up on shelves, also the wardrobe door in the main bedroom really needs some attention as it was completely off its runner. As I say just a couple of things but I would definitely stay at oakwood again.

The lodge was freezing on arrival, the double bedroom window showed signs of having been broken into at some time and did not close properly. The outside of the same room is littered with rubbish. The kitchen units are falling to bits, only one out of the three TV was watchable . On the days where it was nice enough to sit outside, we could not as there were no seat cushions. Lord knows when the decking was last cleanedswept. Laminate flooring indoors is in poor condition due to wet cleaning.It is also slippery cos it is poor quality. The whole place is dated and not worth almost 1000 a week. At least there is a spatula in the kitchen now cos we bought one and left it in the drawer so the next next occupants don't have to do fried eggs with a wooden spoon. And yes, the wardrobe mirror and en suite floor tiles are still cracked as reported by a guest last year.

Please note I raised these issues with Sykes whilst we were there, along with providing photos and it is being looked in to ref COR409700CF. The lodge itself is a little tired and certain areas do require more attention in terms of cleanliness. The dust in the radiator as soon as you walk in, and also in the radiator behind the sofa, has months worth of dust, dirt and dog hair in it this dust also evident around pictures hung up and especially around the vents in the bathroom! There is an intermittent foul smell coming from the drains and bathrooms, not constant but we definitely smelt it daily. With it being Christmas we didnt want too much disruption having to move, so we managed as it was but the standards of cleanliness were really not good. The blind in the living room was broken when we got there and we were left instruction not to use it, also the mirror in the main bedroom wardrobe is cracked you do know about this as there is an awareness sticker on it. There is a cracked floor tile in the bathroom and loose tiles as you walk in the bathroom door, this poses a big hazard to us having a toddler! We dont mind paying an over inflated price for Christmas week however the overall standards of the lodge do really need to be improved. We always come away to whitecross bay over Christmas and have stayed in far cleaner and nicer lodges for the same money. We wont be back to this lodge again.

This was our 2nd time we have stayed at this lodge. The location is beautiful, in a lovely culdesac and plenty of space for parking. The decking has a lovely new table and chairs & the spindles around the decking have recently been replaced. Hot tub is a bonus & was lovely and hot the whole time. The lodge is very spacious & modern. Kitchen has loads of utensils, crockery & glassware! It has a dishwasher & washing machine also which is great. The bedrooms are spacious & both the bathroom & ensuite were lovely. The only thing that puts this lodge down is the cleaning. The beds, kitchen units etc were immaculate but when you looked around there were cobwebs & spiders, skirting boards look like they haven't been cleaned in a good few months. Down the side of the bedside tables in the master bedroom, there is loads of dust that has clearly been building up for some time. I know this is not the owners fault as they are clearly updating the lodge new spindles & outdoor furniture since last year but the level of cleaning will put some people off and this would be a shame for such a lovely lodge! Last year the level of clean was so much better & that was in the summer school holidays. If this had been our 1st stay we maybe would not rebook, but due to previous stay we will be back!

Overall we enjoyed our stay, as the site was what we wanted and expected. However, the lodge was disappointing in some aspects. The good Great site that met expectations, including good location The lodge was in a good quiet location, close to the facilities The lodge had most of what we needed expected Decent hot tub and good outdoor space. The bad disappointment Cleanliness of the lodge, specifically the outside space. Moss all over the outdoor furniture and decking. Cobwebs everywhere. It had clearly not been cleaned for a substantial amount of time The inside of the lodge was tired and could do with a refresh. Stains and damage to paintwork walls, cracked tiles, cracked mirror, etc The bed mattresses were rock solid.

We were a bit worried when reading reviews but we had a great time and loved every minute we spotted ducks rabbits and a deer. The hot tub was lovely and the guy came every day to test it. Very clean and tidy on arrival every thing we needed. Bus stop right outside white cross bay to various areas and as we came with our dog very doggy friendly even on the bus. We used the bar and shop and no issues with WiFi if I was being a bit picky bed is not a king size but fits room size we would love to come back soon Thank You

Looking at past feedback it feels like there is no point in telling you the problems we encountered as people already have and nothing has been done. The lodge needs some tlc and a lot of repairs. We wont be back.

The lodge was very good with only one minor niggle not being able to find the control unit for the fire. This next point is about the site. Finding the lodge in daylight was easy. finding it at night not so easy as the signage is difficult to read when dark. after two nights of aimless wandering the penny dropped re directions.

Lovely lodge. We brought my brother who has mobility issues and the lodge was perfect, giving us some much needed space in a fantastic setting and location. Would definitely book again.

The bed in the main bedroom is definitely a double and not a king as advertised, The ensuite basin and shower drain were blocked. The shower in the ensuite is totally unsuitable as too big for the enclosure. There was no remote for the tv in the main bedroom. Thick dust behind tvs and floors not particularly clean. Various kitchen utensils tired and the peeler didnt work. The internet was shocking and intermittent.

Wonderful log cabin , clean, modern and well fitted out. The hot tub was very well used by my 2 teenage boys, private and well maintained by the facilities team. Cabin was 5 mins from the lakeside which was great . The staff and facilities were great and the cabin was very private at the end of a culdesac

Lodge absolutely outstanding, you could not wish for anything more to be provided in the lodge. The only disappointment was the lack of entertainment in the club and on two nights last orders being called at 9 45 please thank owner for wonderful lodge John Lister

Good location for exploring the lake district. Our two sons loved the 5aside court and had a brilliant time playing with younger and older kids. However, there were elements that were disappointing. Directions for finding the lodge were poor and incorrect. A wrong gate entry code in our arrival email meant we caused a holdup trying to get into the park. Very poor cleanliness when we arrived. There were pills and medication left loose on the carpet in one of the bedrooms. If we had been with very young children this would have been a serious concern. The floors possibly had been hoovered but we found the hoover was broken, quite obviously so and there was a dustpan but no brush. One of the curtain blinds in the bedroom was completely off the wall and just on a dirty floor. The screws had physically been pulled out of the wall. Despite advertising there was an allocated space to BBQ, there was no BBQ slate or brick to protect the decking, meaning that despite the advertising, we weren't able to a shame considering we had good weather. There is no WIFI at the lodge, despite advertising to the contrary. When we enquired about this at the main reception we were told the wifi signal there was probably too weak. The hot tub was lovely, a real bonus at the end of the day. This doesn't appear to be cleaned or tested daily, although there is a sign to say it is. On two occasions the filter was left in pieces in the water and not put back together. After mentioning this to reception, there was no visit or fix so we just used it as it was and hoped for the best. We were told the bar, restaurant and areas surrounding it were not dog friendly by the park reception prior to the visit. This was incorrect, dogs can go everywhere apart from the play park. We phoned Sykes twice during our stay to try and fix a few of the bigger problems. The Sykes helpdesk were very good. Ringing us back when the line got disconnected was much appreciated. Even after these calls only some of the problems were fixed, and required people coming into the lodge during our holiday to try and do maintenance, which seemed the wrong time for this to occur. The help desk also informed us that they only hear of problems when people phone up to let them know, which begs the question what sort on ongoing maintenance contract is there? If I was the owner of this lodge and was renting it out, I would be pretty frustrated at the problems we encountered. For this amount of money, I would look elsewhere for a family holiday.

Its a lovely lodge with everything you could possibly need, very spacious, modern, comfortable and clean. The only downsides I would say is firstly there isnt a roof over the hot tub which wouldve been better as it rained a lot so we didnt make as much use of it as we wouldve liked. Secondly the park WiFi isnt very good, dedicated WiFi in the lodge would have been good as it wasnt usable at all for large parts of the day. That said we had a lovely week and really enjoyed our stay. Its a great base for exploring the lakes!

At first arrival everything seemed good, but as we came to use the facilities we found the lounge remote had no battery cover, the vacuum cleaner hose was split, the fridge door didnt always shut, the main bathroom shower door is a bit stiff to close in places,BUT worst of all was when we removed the main bedroom duvet cover for washing as requested there was a massive pee stain on the duvet itself, DISGUSTED

The double bed is too small for two people and no, were not overweight. I took it and can honestly say its the worse bed Ive ever slept in. A big thick winter duvet during a heatwave, old and worn duvet cover and pillowcases, and, horrible pillows which have created a problem with my neck. I darent join my husband in the twin room as he said the same and the beds looked fit for children, not adults. The red decor is depressing and old fashioned and those Roman blinds dont filter air through. The shower in the en suite is very small so we used the one over the bath. The toilet flush in the bathroom isnt in very good working order. The little tv in the main bedroom doesnt work. I had maintenance man out who appeared to fix it but then when I went to bed to watch it, it was broken again. I dont believe for a second that youre not aware of it either. The oven doesnt look safe, you can only turn it off by switching it off at the main switch on the wall. What happens if someone assumes its been turned off and goes out? The switches on the oven are faulty? I was surprised that there wasnt any handsoap in the bathrooms. There was some in the kitchen. We also had to ask for toilet paper. I wouldnt class staying in the lodge as cheap and there are areas which didnt meet my expectations which didnt make me feel like Id got value for money. Nobody had swept the decking and it was filthy. I think someone needs to take a good look at it and maybe have a night in that bed so that you understand what Im saying. The position of the lodge was perfect under the trees during the heatwave. Ps why are kitchen weighing scales in one of the kitchen drawers without batteries? Neither use nor ornament.
