About Woodland Cottages at Elm

Elm - Woodland Cottages is a luxury 5-bedroom lodge tucked away just 1 mile from Bowness-on-Windermere in the Lake District. This spacious woodland retreat offers exceptional standards with genuine touches of luxury throughout, making it perfect for large families or groups of friends looking to explore one of England's most beautiful regions.

Set within peaceful grounds with access to open fields and woodlands, this property gives you the best of both worlds. You're close enough to enjoy the buzz of Bowness while having your own private sanctuary to return to. The outdoor decked area with hot tub is brilliant after a day of hiking nothing beats sinking into those bubbles with a favourite drink!

The accommodation includes five king-size bedrooms (two can be converted to twins), four bathrooms (three en-suite) and a fantastic open-plan kitchen with all the mod cons. There's a woodburner for those chilly evenings, smart TV with soundbar and WiFi throughout. Parking is available for two cars about 30 yards away.

Lake Windermere is practically on your doorstep, with Bowness promenade just a short drive away. Windermere Golf Club (2 miles, 7 minutes) offers stunning views while you play. The beautiful Tarn Hows (8 miles, 20 minutes) provides spectacular walking trails. The World of Beatrix Potter (1 mile, 5 minutes) is perfect for families.

Really lovely accommodation, spacious, clean & welcoming. Comfortable beds. Great hot tub! Kitchen extremely well kitted out. Wouldnt hesitate to come back. The only bit of feedback I would give is that the curtains in the en suite bedrooms are a bit flimsy and privacy is important as the bedrooms overlook other properties.
We stayed here for my 50th girls weekend and absolutely loved it. The cottage and location are brilliant, and the gorgeous weather made it even more special. The hot tub was fantastic, and having so many bathrooms made getting ready a breeze for 10 ladies. Well definitely be returning. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Our second visit to here so largely knew what to expect. The accommodation still works perfectly for an extended family group like ours. Good location and facilities. Comfortable cottage and 3 granddaughters who thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub on a daily basis. Clean and tidy on arrival so no complaints at all.
Absolutely perfect stay, lovely comfy beds and very clean. Only negative we have is the fans is the bathroom take too long yo go back off. Other than that we all had a fantastic time away thank you.

Sufficient parking. Could do with a 'The Oaks' sign at the start of the road you turn into next to the hotel sign as a few guests were confused and thought they were in the wrong place so didn't find it straight away. Easily accessed the property with key from lock box. Property was very clean, spacious and tasteful. Facilities were exactly as described and exactly what we needed. Double room beds were very comfortable. The double beds arranged into singles became very thin one person actually fell out through the night
We all loved the cottage and location. The log burner was fabulous as it was chilly weather at times. The showers and beds were great to. Sarah was very welcoming and friendly and helped us set up the burner and spoke about the local area. One addition I would suggest is a small play park for children. We had a 2 year old with us and a swing, slide and apparatus in a corner of the grounds would have been ideal and made the location perfect. Thanks for a lovely holiday.

The house provided us with a great base for a large family holiday in the Lakes. It was spacious and well set out. Beds were comfy, kitchen well equipped, and hot tub a luxury. Just a few pointers for improvement the house suffers with condensation and it was not possible to open the velux windows to help with ventilation, as such there were quite a few patches of mould and flaking paint. We ran out of hot water on three occasions, having only used one or two showers worth, which was frustrating and there was no information in the property to explain why this might be or how we could increase the supply of hot water. The bedroom windows overlook other hot tubs and some windows were less sound proof than others the pink bedroom was particularly bad, which is a pain when you have young children going to bed at the time neighbors are in their hot tubs. The grassy area around the house was smaller than it appeared on the listing. Having said that, I think we probably would visit again.

Great cottage, lovely location. Very clean, well maintained. One downside other cottages hot tubs can be quite close. We had next doors directly under our bedroom window and unfortunately on our first night the neighbours were very loud until early hours. Waking us and children up. Think the hot tubs should be moved to better places. Not everyone will adhere to the rules to keep noise down
This is a great holiday property in a very good location. I would give it 5 stars but for these very minor issues a clothes line would be most useful the cooker took ages to heat up possibly we didn't read the instructions correctly! I expected more extensive grounds for exploration from the description and a view of the local tarn, which was there but not visible. The kids loved the hot tub which was perfectly maintained. There is plenty of spacestorage everywhere even if the ensuites were a little tight! Very comfy beds, excellent information including the all so important wifi code being very visible in a picture frame. The staff we had contact with were brilliant. It is worth visit the adjoining hotel it and it's views are beautiful. Would I return? Absolutely.

We had an excellent stay in Elm Woodland cottage, everything was provided to make our stay comfortable. Great outdoor space for children to play and the hot tub was enjoyed by all . Very peaceful setting and only a short drive into Windermere. The cottage itself was spotless and the outdoor space very clean also . The hot tub was checked every morning. This is an amazing place to stay we will definitely come back next year .
Great location nice and quiet. 20 minute walk into bowness the staff are very helpful , .highly recommend .

This is our third year here and once again, we had a wonderful time. The cottage has everything you could possibly need, very clean and comfortable and in a lovely position overlooking the lake. It is in walking distance of Bowness and many walks it was so nice to dip in the hot tub after a long day walking. The location is secluded and very peaceful, bliss! Staff are discreet and very helpful. Will be returning again.

We had a fantastic family stay in the Elm Lodge between Christmas and New Year for a special birthday celebration. The lodge was very clean when we arrived and in the perfect location for short or long walks around the Lakes. We are already thinking about going back!!

Our family of ten stayed here to celebrate my 60th birthday. We all had a wonderful time.The cottage is stunning with beautiful views, there is every you could need to cater for a large family and the log burner is perfect for cozy nights. The view from our hot tub was beautiful. Staff are really discreet but very friendly if you need them. Would definitely stay here again
The cottage was in great location to the town centre and for plenty of walks and bike rides. It was very large and had plenty of room the 10 of us. The rooms were clean and done out very nice. I liked being able to order food for arrival so we didnt have to rush to the shops was a great perk. The facilities was Great the utility room with the extra fridge was an added bonus as there was 10 of us. We was not short of anything. The hot tub was checked daily. All round we had an amazing and would recommend and would definitely return. Thanks Oak estate.x

Cottage was spacious, clean and everything you needed. It was lovely to arrive and have basic starter kit in the kitchen for cleaning purposes, a bottle of milk and Grasmere gingerbread. Hot tub is so relaxing after lots of walking each day. We would definitely book and stay here again.
The only downside was you don't have recycling facilities or at least did not make this clear how to recycle. There was a recycling bin in the property but all the large outside bins were for general waste and all property residents were mixing up their waste. Not good in these times!!
These cottages are a hidden gem and real value for money. Spacious, comfortable, well maintained. Quality furnishings and very clean and well equipped. Stunning views but visitors should be aware of steep road if walking to Bowness, otherwise a car is essential. Perfect location for accessing the most popular Lakeland tourist spots.

Great accommodation! !! We were a party of 8 adults, 2 children and 1 baby celebrating my 70th birthday and everyone had a great time and holiday. The hot tub was also a great hit with all. Since we were a group of tea drinkers a bigger tea pot would have been useful, but otherwise it kitchen facilities were adequate for our needs. If you intend to cater for a large group during your stay, you my consider bringing a few more pans etc to aid with the cooking. We plan our meals for the week prior to arriving and therefore we brought extra pans to cater for our needs. The location is fabulous and we managed to do a number of walks from the house. Martin the site manager and the cleaners were very welcoming,friendly and helpful. We would definitely go back again

Beautiful surroundings as well as spacious well equipped clean modern accommodation. One small point. No chopping board in our cottage. Odd when catering for 10. Good sized pots and pans for 10.
This was our second time here but in a slightly smaller one. The cottage was beautiful, the beds unbelievably comfortable. The location is amazing, the views stunning, the hot tub a refreshing end to a long walking day. The staff are so friendly and helpful. So many positives and fortunately only a couple of negatives and I am being picky because you really do just improvise. The dining table, when extended was too big for the room and too small for ten chairs. The one oven was impossible to cater for ten people, it took two hrs to cook a meal that would normally take one with lots of shuffling about of racks. Would go back in a heartbeat and highly recommend

The only thing missing was a spatula and extra toilet roll. Me and my family, who live in different parts of the country, had a wonderful time, the cottage was very clean and roomy, there was room for all 9 of us although it was still cosy.

The cottage was beautiful, peaceful and very comfortable after long mountain walks. Only 5 minute drive from Bowness my favourite town in the Lake District! Theres so much to see and do nearby. Checkin was so easy and problemfree. Hot tub was wellmaintained by owners, problems quickly sorted. My only tiny issue would be a lack of baking trays, spatulas and various other kitchen utensils. Not a major issue at all, but we had to be a little resourceful! Overall, we had a wonderful week at Elm and would love to return!
