About Fern Lodge

Fern Lodge is a modern, single-storey holiday lodge on the outskirts of Allithwaite in Cumbria. This spacious retreat sits just 0.9 miles from the foodie village of Cartmel, making it perfect for exploring the southern Lake District without the tourist crowds. The lodge is spotlessly maintained by owners Helen and Mark, who've created a proper home-from-home that guests rave about.

Set in a peaceful location with stunning countryside views, this lodge gives you the best of both worlds. You're a 15-minute stroll from Cartmel's famous sticky toffee pudding and racing events, while Grange-over-Sands (the locals' secret gem) is just minutes away. The quiet setting lets you properly unwind after days out exploring Holker Hall, Grizedale Forest or the Arnside & Silverdale AONB.

The accommodation features two bedrooms - a king-size with en-suite walk-in shower and a twin serviced by the main bathroom. The open-plan living space includes a fully-equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine, dining area seating six and a comfortable sitting area with Smart TV and WiFi. Everything's on one level, making it accessible for everyone.

Cartmel village (0.9 miles, 3-minute drive) offers award-winning restaurants, traditional pubs and the famous Cartmel Racecourse. Holker Hall & Gardens (3.5 miles, 10 minutes) showcases stunning historic architecture. Grizedale Forest (12 miles, 25 minutes) provides excellent walking trails. Absolutely spotless, comfortable, modern, spacious lodge. Throughly enjoyed our stay, everything you need for a self catered base. Hot tub was a luxury to relax in from ventures out. Walkable into local Cartmel and easy drive to other Lakes destinations. Highly recommend and would definitely visit again

The lodge was absolutely lovely. Couldn't fault anything. The location was so peaceful but perfect for exploring the area. The lodge was beautifully done and had a real homely feel. We all had a fantastic time. Nice the owners came to say hello and check we were happy. Look forward to visiting again next year. Would highly recommend.

Absolutely beautiful lodge, exactly as pictured and described. Comfy beds and bedding, spacious, fab hot tub, comfy sofas, heating worked as expected and heated towel rails so useful for swim stuff. Kitchen lovely with everything you need. We had the loveliest time here and would stay again. Lovely couple, who showed us how to use the hot tub and gave local walk and eating recommendations. Highly recommend!

We stayed at fern lodge with 2 young children 15 months & 5 months and we were so pleased. The lodge is a great size even with all our travel cots etc. The outdoor area that comes with the lodge was great, including the enclosed garden at the back with the hot tub in. Helen and her husband were friendly and answered any questions we had. The caravan site was quiet and clean. We will definitely be back.

We had a great time staying at Fern Lodge. It was an excellent space for our family of 4 to base ourselves whilst exploring the Lake District. The lodge is well designed and furnished to a high standard. There are lots of spaces outside the lodge to relax in comfy chairs to soak up the sun. It was spotlessly clean too. A good soak in the hot tub in the private garden was the perfect end to each day. We would highly recommend Fern Lodge!
Such a lovely home from home lodge. Had a lovely holiday here, Helen and Mark gave us lots of info on where we were staying, places to eat and visit, lovely hosts. The hot tub was amazing and very private, the little extras that were left for us , especially the cartmel sticky toffee pudding was delicious. We would definitely recommend to friends and family and would love to come back in the future.

Just had our stay at Fern Lodge and I can see why so many people have given it a 5 star rating! Its such a lovely place, super clean inside and out, cant fault the lodge in any way at all, the hosts Helen and mark are amazing too, very knowledable and made our stay all the more better, will definitely be returning!
The lodge was even better than it looked in the advertisement. Spotless, beautifully furnished. Hot tub was spotless and maintained daily. Site was quiet. Hosts were lovely would highly recommended.

Im reluctant to give a good review as I dont want more competition to book this fabulous lodge in the future! The lodge is spacious, very clean and tastefully decorated and designed. The exterior is in our view better than the pictures suggest with the location of the lodge perfect for evening sun and very private. The hot tub is an excellent addition. The lodge location is spot on a quiet location on the outskirts of Cartmel which has so much to it including a great breakfast and cheese shop!. Helen and Mark are friendly, welcoming and accommodating. On top of all this, the sun shone all week! If youre looking for somewhere to stay for a family of four in the south part of the Lakes, youll struggle to find a better lodge than this.
