Mrs Puddleducks, Windermere

The property is perfectly located in the town, with all the local amenities within walking distance. The 2 car parking facility is very convenient. The beds were comfortable and it was lovely to have our own bathrooms. The cottage is on the bijou side and would not suit anyone who struggled with stairs or small spaces, but it was perfect for us. The hot tub was great, especially as it was still technically winter. The downside is that the furnishings are dated and all the linen looks a bit tired. There was a blood stain on the bed covering in Mrs Puddleducks room. The 2 living rooms could do with some foot stools perhaps. Also when we arrived the heating was not on and there were no instructions as to how to set it. We worked out how to use the thermostat, but then had to reset the boiler as the pressure was low. As we had given an eta, it would have been nice for the cottage to have been warm when we got there, especially as it was still winter. Also instructions a to how to use the thermostat would probably have been useful. Had we not been able to work it out, we would have called the out of hours number. However, it seems like an avoidable occurrence. All in all a pleasant stay.

Great stay fantastic property in a central location and had everything we needed. The hot tub was an added bonus. Great value for 5 nights and would love to stay again.

Really enjoyed our stay, the cottage is lovely and in a great location. The only comment is the toilet kept making a funny noise throughout the night, in the bedroom to the left on the top floor.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here at Mrs Puddleducks. Everything we needed was available. The cottage was comfortable, clean and well maintained. Set in a great location with a hot tub as a bonus. We would definitely rebook.

Lovely house , only negative stairs might be a problem for some people. Location great for restaurants, shops and great for walking. Would definitely recommend.

The property is lovely but Id just like to give you some things for improvement. Cleanliness the fridge hadnt been cleaned and there was cheese and bits in there, the freezer needed defrosting as you couldnt get much in and the grill tray was dirty. Comfort the pillows are really lumpy and we all struggled sleeping with them. Toilets continually making a noise through the night. The middle toilet didnt flush well even just a bit of paper. Information Book outdated information. Bins they were full on arrival. Would have been nice to have had some information on local walks.

Lovely cottage only a few feet from Windermere centre. Well decorated with 2 living rooms, 3 bathrooms, 4 TVs and the Hot tub in the sunny back garden fabulous. We had a wonderful family holiday celebrating a 60th birthday. The weather was outstanding for 4 days and dry and warm for the remainder. Parking for 2 cars an added bonus

This is our second vistor to Mrs puddleducks. We absolutely love the location its ideal to access to the windermere town. Coop is literally a 30 second walk. Lots of cafes restaurants and pubs and shops, just a perfect lakes District town. Parking access is great, a driveway and 1 additional parking on the road. They had some improvements this time, the chairs in the kitchen were better more comfortable and the paintingdecor had been refreshed. Also the jets in the hot tub worked. Thanks for a great stay, see you next year.

We had a lovely stay at Mrs Puddleducks. Location was great very convenient for local amenities and getting out and about. The hot tub was very welcome after long days hiking. Everything was in ship shape order. Would certainly stay here again.

This holiday was lovely. Love the layout , was immaculately cleaned and very comfortable. I only give a 4 because on arrival I was so disappointed by the front garden and back as lots of weeds . Also wear and tare throughout on some paint work. The location and parking was fab . We will definitely be booking again . What a great weeks stay

The location of the property is perfect and within a minutes walk from the town centre with all its facilities. On arrival the front garden was overgrown and unkempt giving no kerb appeal. The rear courtyard was disappointing as the furniture does not match the photographs. It too is untidy and neglected. The hot tub had brown scum around the edges and seats and had to be cleaned before use. It was however professionally cleaned and serviced the next day. Whilst the interior was clean the paintwork was tatty and chipped needing attention. The curtains are a mismatch some too short, others too long. General level of finishing in the bathrooms is poor. A good refurbishment is needed. The photographs of the interior lounges are flattering to say the least as both are smaller than they appear and would not comfortably seat the 5 adults the description claims to accommodate. We have stayed in many self catering cottages previously. This is the first time we have not been provided with a hairdryer, a few basic kitchen essentials such as foil, cling film, cooking oil etc not even a pint of milk or a solitary tea bag. I have seen a previous reply on this issue stating welcome packs are not standard ! I take issue with this and have found the exact opposite to be true. Our overall impression was that this property is unwelcoming and purely a money spinner. We returned home a day early after giving up on Mrs Puddleducks.

Your holiday home is beautiful we had a great stay but couldnt get television in back double room to work and shower heads seem a bit big to fit in holder they were awkward to keep in place ? But otherwise it was brilliant definitely would book you again thank you

We were disappointed with our stay at Mrs Puddleducks, The house looked clean on arrival, but the banisters and light switches were grubby. The floor looked clean, but our socks were absolutely awful an odd sandy brown colour, which we assumed was possibly down to dog urine. We guess dogs had urinated around the hot tub as it smelt strongly and when it rained the smell was even more intense. We chose to leave early and went to stay at a Hotel for the remainder of our holiday. The house has a lot of potential, but is not worthy of the price we paid! 1,090.00 left us feeling ripped off. The fit and finish is poor, the dishwasher was not secure in its slot. The rear shower tiling was scruffy and the excess grout had not been wiped off. The upstairs toilets clonked and banged all night long, disturbing our sleep. The middle floor shower, didnt work well and turned itself off during use. It was clear to see the house is purely a money maker, which needs love and attention.

This was a lovely property overall, very spacious and a great location! On arrival we opened the door to a very strong smell of wet dogs. We then had to remove the two mats from the downstairs lounge area and store them in a cupboard as they were covered in large white dog hairs, almost as though the mats had not been hoovered and cleaned between reservations. A lot of the same white dog hair could be found around the floors, under the sofa and weaved into the cushions on the sofa. We then decided to remove the cushions and store them in the cupboard also. We have a 16 month old toddler who crawls about the floor and plays at that level so the level of cleanliness was not ideal! We completely understand that the property caters for dogs which is not an issue, the issue solely lies with the cleanliness. We expected the property to be cleaned thoroughly between stays to remove the strong smell of wet dog and hairs everywhere. Other than this, the stay was pleasurable. The hot tub is a great addition and the two parking spaces were handy for our two vehicles! The beds were super comfy and very clean! We would defo recommend this stay and also return ourselves as we are sure the cleanliness between dog stays will be addressed. Thank you for having us!

We had a fantastic week at Mrs Puddleducks. Comfy beds we all slept really well. Hot tub was fantastic and a highlight of the stay. We really appreciated the ease of parking for 2 cars a bay at the rear along with a parking pass for use on the front street. Kitchen was clean and equipped with all the cutlery, plates, pans etc that you would need for a week away. Location is perfect, being just a couple of minutes walk to the shops, pubs, and restaurants. There are 2 sitting rooms the one on the lower ground floor level which leads out to the yard with the hot tub was too cold to use while we were there. That being said, we were staying during the cold snowy weather at the start of January where outside temps were below freezing all week I can imagine that's a nice room in the warmer months. It wasn't a real issue as the ground floor front sitting room room was warm and comfy. Thanks for a lovely week.

This was our 3rd time at Mrs Puddleducks as it was always a favourite. We hadnt been back for a few years due to having a little one but now he can do stairs we decided to return. It was disheartening to see how they had let the place go. Mrs Puddleducks was far from the enchanting, magical cottage it used to be. The lack of care and attention to detail were evident. The outside pipe was disconnected, pouring water on anyone below. There is a leak in the downstairs living room, likely caused by water damage from the disconnected pipe, leading to water dripping in the lounge. The shower in the middle bathroom does not work properly and the screens are hanging off the runners. The shower in the top back bathroom keeps coming off its runners. There is a missing remote meaning you have to share a remote control between the downstairs and middle lounges. Some of the plates, bowls and mugs are chipped. The sofa cushions were covered in dog hairs so had clearly not been cleaned. There was Im assuming a missing mirror on the middle landing which isnt a problem but the unsightly hangers and glue left on the wall show a lack of care. The top bedrooms had their charming door plaques still in place of Jemima and Mrs Tiggywinkle, however, the plaque from the childrens room was missing, to which the children were not pleased about. The location of Mrs Puddleducks is wonderful and it is just a very very short walk to the centre of the town but the lack of care and attention have let it down massively. What is also sad is that many of the issues I have mentioned, have also been mentioned in previous reviews, some from several months ago, and whilst the responses to these reviews offer assurances that the issues would be dealt with, they clearly have not and the responses were just meaningless words as a tick box activity to show they have read them.

Lovely property in a great location, everything on your doorstep no need to go out in your car. The cottage is really well equipped lots of home comforts, the hot tub is perfect after a days walking. Just a couple of points which could improve it, get rid of the wine fridge and put in a washing machine, replace the glass kitchen table with a bench seatchair combination as a bit tight in kitchen and lower tv as it's way too high on wall, also no hair dryer.

We had a lovely first stay at Mrs Puddleducks. The cottage is in a perfect location with good parking facilities. The cottage itself was beautifully presented, very clean and had ample space. The beds were so comfy and the cottage had everything you needed. The hot tub is an amazing extra and it was really easy to use which is a bonus, we enjoyed having a nice quiet relax after a day of walking and chasing a 2 year old around. We highly recommend the cottage and would definitely stay again. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Fabulous cottage in perfect location. The hot tub was an added bonus! Disappointed at not having a washing machine which, for the size of the house, you'd expect, but wouldn't put us off returning. WiFi and ground floor smart TV wasn't working well but we managed without it. Otherwise, definitely one of the best properties we've stayed in.

Nice property in a great location, well equipped and it was great to have 2 living rooms. Only minor niggles were one of the TV remotes doesn't work it was different from the others despite all the TV's being the same and we couldn't find the black outside bin!

Lovely cottage in a fantastic location in Windermere town and a 20 min walk straight down to Bowness and the lake. Only 5 mins walk to train station where bus terminus is located. Cottage was clean and a great base. We used the hot tub every day which after a long day out was fantastic. Would definitely recommend.

Had a wonderful stay. The property was perfectly located to Windermere and all it's amenities, shops, restaurants and bars. The property was clean, with comfortable beds and fresh bedding with nice fluffy towels provided. The hot tub was a perfect way to relax after a day's sight seeing. I would definitely book again.

Excellent property right in the heart of the town, property itself is excellent, has everything you want, very clean and plenty of space, Hot tub was very clean and a comfort after a days walking. Overall excellently run, easy to find and use would definitely recommend. Simon

We loved this cottage. Fabulous location in the center of Windermere with loads of restaurants, shops, pubs all within a couple of minutes easy walk. Really quiet at night we slept so well. Lots of walks to do from the door. Really well designed very recently renovated. Everything feels new beds, linens, sofas etc. 3 shower rooms with toilets which is great for getting everyone ready and out in the morning. Kitchen well stocked with lots of mugsglasses so you don't have to constantly wash up. The hot tub was great and used every day. This would be a good property to stay in if you were relying on public transport near the station and frequent buses taking you all over the area. Only little maintenance issue the top of the drain down pipe at the back of the property is blocked, and this overflows when the sink in the middle bathroom is used.

The property was perfect, location, facilities and cleanliness. Decor was very tasteful and the use of space in the bathrooms very cleverly thought out. The only things that let the property down were when we arrived the heating was very low and the house was extremely cold. We tried to adjust the heating and found when it hadnt warmed up a number of the radiators had been turned off and in fact the boiler was running under pressure. We reset the boiler and the house quickly warmed up. If we hadnt had prior knowledge of this particular boiler I think it would have been difficult to sort. The other problem was the hot tub. When we arrived we checked it and it was turned on and showing a temperature of 38 degrees. We cooked a meal and then went to use the hot tub only to find that it wasnt working. The jets werent working and the temperature had dropped. We tried contacting the person named in the folder, Pete but there was no reply. We tried a few of the numbers in the folder but with no joy unfortunately. We book a property because we enjoy going in the hot tub after a meal on the Friday night. We feel that this has taken away some of amazing assets if this property. We finally got through to Sykes the number used was the one on their email confirming the property details and they were very good at communicating with myself. A couple of local hot tub contractors managed to fix the hot tub at 6pm on Saturday and we looked forward to using it on the Sunday. We checked it on Sunday and things seemed to be ok but when we came to use the hot tub on Sunday afternoon we found that a few of the jets were not working and the temperature quickly dropped. We presume that some of the motors may not be working. We were again disappointed as this is a highlight of our stay. We wouldnt want this to affect further bookings for the owners as it was a lovely cottage. We would like you to consider a refund of a small amount due the inconvenience of contacting Sykes, the workmen and the hot tub not working properly. Thank you

Lovely place to stay. Near restaurants shops and the places we wanted to visit. Ensuites a little small and not enough toilet roll. Would have appreciated salt and pepper in the kitchen. Should have had additional towels for the hot tub. Bigger bath towels would also have been nice.

Beautifully refurbished immaculate cottage. Well equipped kitchen and the hot tub a lovely bonus. The stairs may be a problem for the less able. The location is perfect for amenities and 25 mins walk to the lake. Parking outside the property with the permit, and also one space behind property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay thankyou.

The stairs were heavy for a bunch of over 60s but nothing you can do about that! Mrs Puddleducks is a charming place and the location is amazing. Will rebook next year. Thank you

House was clean tidy and well equipped, 3 flights of stairs make it unsuitable for less mobile. Plenty of on street parking however access to park8ng bay can be difficult due to neighbouring taxi firm who store taxis and repair them on access road.

The property is in a great location and having parking was really convenient. The property is nicely furnished and decorated, and the hot tub was a good addition to use in the evenings. Unfortunately, the property wasn't very clean and is looking quite tired. We understand that the property is booked out quite a bit, but the general maintenance needs to looked at. The tap in the Kitchen dripped constantly, the plinths are falling off, the small fridge isn't fixed in properly so falls forward everytime you open the door, the shower screen in the back double bedroom falls off the runner each time you open it and the back garden is messy and could do with a good clean and tidy up. Also, the cleanliness let the property down. There were cobwebs everywhere, dust on skirting boards, plug sockets, etc and we found a pair of used underwear in the corner of one of the double bedrooms. On arrival, the fridge was not working, which was frustrating as we had stopped at the shops and brought food before turning up at the cottage. Getting hold of anyone from the management company was a nightmare, but they did send someone out that night to fix it. It was evident that the fridge had been off for quite a while, so it made us question if the cleaning team had even opened it when they were there. Some of the Kitchen amenities also need to be improved. A larger frying pan is required this has been mentioned in numerous reviews so you would think the ownersmanagement would have purchased one by now. Additional plates, bowls, cutlery, etc would also have been useful. For the price we paid, we expected a slightly higher standard so wouldn't choose to stay again.

Cottage was true to photos and had everything we needed. Layout was excellent and loads of storage space. Very clean both on the inside and the back yard. Hot tub man came daily to check it. We had been informed that the jets were not working but that did not bother us. Property is in a fabulous location literally a 2 minute walk to shops, bars and restaurants. Despite the close proximity we never heard any noise. No complaints from us and we would certainly return

Pictures for this cottage were accurate, however when you arrive at the cottage there are massive signs or Wear and tear, cleanliness is well below par, net curtains and bedding could do with being replaced, carpet could do with a deep clean. We requested a cot bed and High chair but couldnt find them on first inspection but eventually found them in the cupboard under the stairs both were very dirty and had to be cleaned before use, would have been nice if they had been set up on arrival and cleaned for us as its not a cheap holiday experience. The hot tub needs to be replaced as its not fit for use missing covers on most jets , no lights and it felt unclean. Would not book this cottage again sorry we paid A lot of money and I dont feel it reflected that.

We had overall lovely stay at Mrs puddleducks the location was brilliant. Close to shops bars and restaurants everything you would need. The bus stop is very near for my mother and father who couldn't walk into bowness and Ambleside. Its ideal if you don't want to use the car as the parking in nearby towns can get get busy. A couple of disappointing things one was the jets on the hot tubs aren't working, I can see others have mention this. Also the hoover smelt like wet dog too the point it was over powering and we have a dog and I've never smelt anything like it and the paint work was a little tired. This is purely feedback, we had a great time and we had the best time exploring and it was great base for all our family. Older and younger.
