About Silver Birches

The Lake District location puts everything at your fingertips. Walk to Bowness and the lake in about 1.5 miles. Fancy a pint? Several pubs sit within walking distance. Perfect for hikers and lazy loungers alike - you can tackle the fells then soak those aching muscles in your private hot tub. No judgment if you skip the hiking and head straight for the bubbles!

The accommodation includes three spacious bedrooms: a super king with ensuite, a king size and a flexible super king/twin room. The family bathroom and additional shower room mean no morning queues. The lounge flows into a dining area, while the fitted kitchen comes packed with gadgets. This bungalow was a home from home. It was in a lovely quiet location really close to the centre of Windermere. The bungalow was well furnished, had everything you needed and was spotlessly clean. We would love to revisit this bungalow but noticed it is up for sale and no future bookings can be made on the website, such a shame but l understand the owners wishes.

Set in a lovely quiet, peaceful location and an 8 minute walk to the lovely town of Windermere. We had a wonderful stay at Silver Birches. The bungalow was a great size, very clean with literally everything we needed. The kitchen was really very well equipped. The garden was beautiful and private with a lovely hot tub. We arrived to a lovely bottle of bubbly and milk and biscuits. No negatives at all, the only suggestion would be a fan in the bedrooms. We highly recommend this lovely bungalow and would definitely return. Thank you!

Excellent accommodation, very spacious and clean and everything you need apart from bathsheets, so take your own if you use them. Hot tub could do with a roof over it, so it can still be used when raining. Excellent base for exploring from, visiting other places nearby. Would definitely book this property again. This bungalow is the best holiday property we have used. Beautifully laid out, immaculately clean, every dish you could ask for in the kitchen, high quality equipment. Been there twice and never disappointed. The hot tub at the end of a busy day is bliss. Garden spectacular. I cant use enough superlatives for this property.

The property was spotless on arrival. In a great quiet location just a short stroll into Windermere. The addition of the hot tub was really appreciated after hiking the fells. Great communication from the owners to allow us to drop our bags off early. Would highly recommended and already looking to rebook.
This property is first class. From the moment we arrived for our week in the Lake District, we felt at home. Great care had clearly been taken to ensure the property was spotlessly clean and warm on arrival. We really felt this was a home from home, kitchen wonderfully equipped, comfortable furnishings etc. There were some very thoughtful provisions too, such as gowns for the hot tub, this was a lovely touch. Id highly recommend Silver Birches to anyone!

A lovely house with plenty of space and really well located for accessing both Windermere and Bowness. The house was warm and cozy when we arrived, the hot tub good for 46 people. No issues with the house, it was our third time there, weve booked again for 2026

We stayed at Silver Birches as the 9th visitor after the property was first let as a holiday home about 7 years ago and had a fabulous holiday. Lovely quiet culdesac. Marvellous garden and hot tub. The kitchen was and still is the best equipped kitchen we have ever used in a holiday home and we have stayed in a lot of cottages over the years. But, we are aware that this property allows dogs, we don't have dogs and when we arrived the smell of dogs on the sofas 3 and the rug in front of the fire had a very strong dog odour. We vacuumed the rug and the carpet through the corridor through to the bedroom and filled the Dyson stick vacuum three time with dog hair. I know they allow dogs, but guests without dogs shouldn't have to clear dog hair up from previous guests. The smell to us was over powering. The bathroom, shower room, bedroom and kitchen were spotless. I think that some small changes to the cleaning regime would help.

A fantastic house in a great location. Very comfy and spacious with walking distance to all amenities and dog walks on the doorstep. Everything you need is provided for a great break.
Really loved staying at Silver Birches. It was dark when we arrived but we were welcomed by blue fairy lights in the tree by the drive and once inside it was spacious and immaculate, even better than the listing suggested. Beds were soft but comfortable and in the morning we could appreciate the gorgeous, well kept garden and start to explore the local area. The kitchen had good space but my only ask would be a few extra things in the cupboards, namely a salad spinner, some newer nonstick frying pans and some sharper knives but there was plenty of quality glassware and crockery and cutlery. The induction hob was good and so much easier to clean than a gas hob and there was a big fridge freezer. The location was quiet and out of the way but an easy walk into Windermere and there are some paths to explore to get down to the lake or down to Bowness. It can be a little tricky to emerge into the main road as its so busy but there was always a gap eventually. Would happily stay here again.

This was our 3rd visit to Silver Birches and we had already booked for 2026. As with previous visits the property was spotless on arrival with the bonus of a bottle of wine and milk. Our dog enjoyed the enclosed garden and as we were lucky with the weather we made great use of the hot tub and it was reassuring that it was checked during the week. The kitchen has everything you need for self catering and the beds were super comfortable. It is located in a quiet cul de sac but it is only a short 10 minute walk into Windermere village where there is a selection of dining choices including Cafe Italia which we have visited every year and has dog friendly al fresco dining. We recommend this property and look forward to more visits in the future.
