Elm Lodge, Ulverston

Elm lodge has earned some good reviews. The location, facilities and ambience surely live up to that and for sure its clean, comfortable and well equipped. There are some lovely views on the approach roads to the estate, driving down to Ulverston is simply spectacular. However that said, we were left a mite dissapointed with a few features that could be simply rectified. There is little by the way of local info, walks etc. or instruction for appliances. A couple of bedroom doors don't close, there are no anti slip mats or shelves in the showers and a towel hook near the hottub would be very useful. Regretfully the internet service was simply annoying, its quite unstable probably due to the wet weather. It affects streaming channels i.e. Netflix so you are simply left with Freesat, but there is a DVD player and some movies. Parking is immediately adjacent to the decking, but can get a bit muddy when its wet. The 'plantation' surrounding the lodge provides privacy but its now quite tall, not as the Sykes images, so does slightly limit what would otherwise be a panoramic view. This review has to feature the two very friendly moggies, they sure do provide some local entertainment, but it means you can't leave the doors ajar or they'll be in, and we did notice a prevailing cat aroma on a couple of cushions. As a destination, despite these grumbles, Elm Ewedale has a lot to offer.

My friend and I have just returned from a lovely six night break in Elm Lodge which exceeded our expectations. Having had stayed in a number of holiday homes we think this was one of the best, the beds were so comfy we did not want to get up! The lodge was extremely well equipped with everything you need for a relaxing holiday we particularly liked the outside seating area which was not overlooked well, only by sheep and cows! We also appreciated having the owners on site as we had problems with getting the TV on which turned out to by an user area but the owners would never interfere with us unless we asked for help which makes for the the perfect holiday set up. We were also pleased as the cats only very occasionally visited us. The lodge was close to various places making it an ideal base for visiting some of the Lake District Thank you for a lovely holiday

Wow! What a find. When we first entered the lodge, we were blown away. The photos look incredible on the website, but seeing it in person was on another level. From the high end finshes to both decor and layout, we were overjoyed to be able to stay in Elm Lodge for 3 nights. The quality of both the beddingpillows and the bed itself were exceptional which led to good sleep all round. The hot tub was amazing. Sitting outside in the peaceful countryside was just idyllic. We had a small issue turning off the light on the bathroom mirror. Carole came to sort it for us in her pjs and dressing gown! We were welcomed by Cyril the dog and had frequent visits from Millie and Mollie, the farm cats. Take care with windows and doors as the cats are like lightning and will happily come inside. Honestly, we couldn't have asked for more thanks for the bottle of wine on arrival and the whole experience surpassed our expectations. We would love to return. Carole and Ste thank you so much. Another fantastic stay at Elm Lodge. The lodge is always clean & comfortable and this time we noticed quite a few new upgrades which added to the overall lovely experience. A good base for exploring the lakes and with family staying in Ash lodge, it was the perfect week. Looking forward to returning in the summer.

Elm lodge is a very well kept lodge. Beautifully clean and well maintained. It's in a lovely location, very peaceful with amenities not too far away. On the whole we really liked it. We were very disappointed by not being able to use the tub at all on day one, we knew it may not be up to temperature on arrival check in at 3pm but it was still freezing at 11pm. Just for awareness, the lodge is on a farm and there are cats roaming free. Elm is a pet free cabin we book these out of necessity due to having a very allergic child. The cats are always sat at the windows and door waiting to get in. This meant we had to be REALLY on it when going in and out as they'd literally be waiting to sprint in. Bit of a pain and wouldn't be suitable in warmer months if you wanted the windowsdoors open. If you're a cat lover mind, it's ideal.

We booked the lodge that advertised no pets. There were two cats around the lodge all the time, trying to come in. In the log reviews left by other guests, we saw that they let the cats in while they were there. The saucepans and frying pan were scratched and the Teflon coating was coming off, so we did not use them. The settee was very soft and low, and my wife had trouble getting up from it. We returned home halfway through our holiday as we were not happy and felt let down

We had a lovely stay at Elm Lodge, which was very well appointed, comfortable and definitely one of the warmest holiday rentals we have stayed in. The owners were lovely, kind and welcoming. Thanks to Carol for talking us through the directions when we inadvertently took a wrong turn. Steve was there to meet us when we arrived and explained everything clearly. Like one of the previous reviewers we are not cat people. Steve had explained about the cats but they werent much of an issue for us, my husband discouraged them from coming into the lodge and they gave up after a day or two. Unfortunately the weather wasnt great and we couldnt get out and about as much as we would have liked one of us is disabled. Our daughter and son in law were able to stop for the weekend the welcome bottle of wine was most welcome! We did manage to get out on the worst weather day Sunday and visited the Dock Museum in nearby Barrow in Furness, which was actually much more interesting than it sounds. Accessible for a wheelchair user. Good cafe and views over the estuary when it wasnt raining heavily. Daughter and son in law braved a very blustery walk over to Walney Island nature reserve. We declined but we met for a late Sunday lunch before the intrepid walkers returned home for work the following day. The pubrestaurant was The Manor House, Oxen Park mentioned in the lodges welcome pack. The lunch was excellent and the landlord was very helpful and accommodating. The location was very impressive with wonderful views over the surrounding areas. We also visited the Orangery Cafe in St Marys Hospice in Ulverston. Good value food, lovely terrace with stunning views over the nearby park and estuary. Plus you would be raising money for a very worthy cause. Parking is tricky but it is a working hospice. For those who fancy something a little different, I recommend a visit to the Manjushri Meditation Centre just outside Ulverston. Set in the grounds of an old abbey, there is a cafe vegetarian, shop and a rather beautiful temple you can visit. There are also a number of walks in the grounds, pushchair and wheelchair friendly again with great views over the estuary. Unfortunately we did have to return home early due to health reasons, the owners were very understanding. Thank you Steve and Carol.

Beautiful place, lovely cabin, beautifully decorated and clean. Hot tub is amazingly clean and well looked after, has everything you need for your stay. The owners left a bottle of wine for check in too which I thought was lovely, I also loved reading through the guestbook of people who had previously stayed. Beds made lovely and comfortable, we loved meeting Cyril and Bentley the dogs and Molly the cat. Molly the cat was so lovely and friendly, made her self at home whenever we opened the door, she didn't like to listen to us telling us to stop sitting on the sofa, we might have had to entice her a few times to leave at bed time as she didn't want to leave

Nice and Quiet Peaceful and Secluded yet not far from main Town

Elm Lodge was in amazing condition, and in such a lovely area. The hot tub was very clean and ready to use when we arrived. It is situated very close to shops etc and close to Windermere. I would definitely come again and recommend to others!

We absolutely loved our stay at Elm Lodge. We can't fault a thing. If anything, the owners went above and beyond to help us when we were unexpectedly snowed in on our day of departure which was gratefully appreciated. The property is spotlessly clean and every detail has been thought of from appliances, utensils and decor, it was lovely and warm, water hot, beds and sofas very comfortable. Gorgeous peaceful location yet close enough to the town, pubs, restaurants and shops. Will definitely be returning as soon as we can

We have a fabulous time in Elm Cottage, the host met us on the way in and introduced himself and every morning we had a visit from the cats, the cottage was clean and very comfortable, it had everything we needed and the hot tub was a fabulous bonus. We would recommend and will be back.

Third time in a year weve stayed at Elm and once again had a fantastic time. The lodge was as lovely, clean, comfortable as always. All amenities provided. Looking to book a return trip again very soon.

The pictures do not do the lodge justice. Absolutely stunning. Me and my husband came to stay for 2 nights. Really wish we would have booked for longer. The lodge was beautifully kept and had everything we needed for the weekend. A bottle of wine was left for arrival. We will def be back and we cannot wait. May bring the kids with us next time as the lodge was suitable for little ones and had some child proofing for the more dangerous parts in the kitchen. Really honestly a lovely place

Our second stay this year but this time for a family Christmas spread over two lodges! Had a wonderful time as always clean, comfortable and cosy. Everything to hand to make for a perfect festive getaway. Our family loved the lodges and area and want to return. We are looking forward to our next stay which weve booked already for the summer. Our favourite place by far for a staycation.

We stayed here for 2 nights as a new couple on our first weekend away. We absolutely loved it! The lodge was clean, tidy and had everything we needed. My partner even said he wants one now its made such an impression! The views were lovely and we had such a nice stay. Were definitely thinking of coming back soon! The local town wasnt too far away and we went there each day to see whats around. We just wish that wed taken the phone number for the owners to contact them. Nothing was left out and everything was thought of, a bottle of wine on arrival although we dont like wine was a lovely thought. There was an Alexa devices in the lodge for us to listen to music and even tea bags and milk.

Two weeks at Elm Lodge and having stayed at Woodside Barn before we thought that was lovely but Elm Lodge beat it! Super clean, comfortable and quiet it was the perfect summer break. The hot tub was a great addition. Weve stayed in lots of places around the UK but this is our favourite. Great location to explore the whole of the Lakes. Will definitely return.

Far exceeded our expectations! The lodge is very comfortable, spacious and fully equipped with everything you may need in your time away. We particularly enjoyed the hot tub and bbq on the outdoor decking. The lodge is very private and has a lovely view and we loved that it was nearby to the town and also only took us 30 minutes to drive to Windermere. Would 100 return and recommend to others!

This is in the most perfect location and the lodge was like home from home. Very comfortable, everything thought about within the inside and outside. 13yr old grandson really enjoyed himself and the hottub was his bonus. Having got lost finding it and having to ring the farm twice they were very patient and helpful

Elm Lodge is everything we look for in a holiday accommodation and MORE! The setting is amazing and after a busy day exploring the area , relaxing in the hot tub whilst looking out over open fields was the icing on the cake !! The lodge itself is immaculate and beautfully furnished, with everything you could possibly need for your stay a home from home in all respects!! We would not hesitate to recommend this property !

We had a great week at elm lodge. The location is perfect to relax and still within reach of loads of activities. One suggestion would be some robe hooks by the hot tub. We loved that the little things like tea and coffee, cleaning products and kitchen foil had been thought about which really does make a difference. Thank you!

A great week here all very positive the lodge is modern clean very well kept lots of little extras the view is amazing the hot tub is perfect the owner is very helpful the only one thing we would say is the description & pictures need updating as when we pulled up my husband said wow this is far better than pics as it has lovely fern trees all round it so private like being in a mini Forrest & the inside is far bigger. Perfect outstanding

Excellent Lodge, I cant recommend Elm Lodge enough. From the moment we walked in, we were wowed by the quality of the accommodation. The hosts have thought of everything, meaning you dont have to shoot out for any essentials, as theyve already thought of it. The lodge is spacious and the pictures really dont do it justice enough. Everything shines of quality and the beds are amazing. The cherry on top, is the hot tub which is a great way to finish the day.

The lodge is perfect, clean, comfortable and has everything you need. The view from the hot tub is incredible overlooking the fields and very secluded. Would definitely go back.

Elm Lodge is a stunning lodge in a beautiful scenic location. It is spacious, extremely comfortable, good quality fixtures and fittings and spotlessly clean. The hot tub was a perfect way to relax at the end of each day! Thank you for sharing this wonderful lodge with us.

This was our second holiday in seven months at Elm Lodge. We love it. It's peaceful and the accommodation is just the best. It has all the nice touches you could wish for, from the hot tub to the barbecue grill to the deck furniture to the DVD player and the Echo Dot speaker so we can listen to the music we like whilst cooking dinner! Everything is first rate. And when we arrived this last time, my girlfriend said, Oh look! It's just like we left it! Great property. We are already discussing dates for our next visit!
